So, time for a quick Greek mythology trip. This is my interpretation of Charon, ferryman on the River Styx. (2003)

Incredible, the source of light plays out well, the shading is just awesome... Wow...

Somethings missing... IN THE BEDROOM!? :O

Greek mythology is wonderful, I myself am familiar with most of the works yet haven't gotten down to the details. The point of view that you showed for this gives it a solemn look and haunting. Once again you are such a gifted person and I honor your work!
Great job on the water and lighting effects!

The choice of color is very nice, I like these monochromatic ways of doing paintings. I'm a bit concerned about the ferryman falling off his little boat, because if I tilt the picture so that the sea is level, he's in trouble.. ;)

I'd be interested in knowing how you go about doing this. You use Painter, right? What kind of tools? :)
:icontjernstrom:
Think so? The angle was done on purpose; he's supposed to be leaning on his pole thing. :) And yep, Painter 7 to be exact. This one was done with.. uhh, I'm not 100% sure, since I have saved it in a new folder with a different name. I think it's the variant named Smaller Wash Brush.

Hmm, I actually downloaded the picture, and rotated it so that the sea is level, and you're right. He'd still have enough balance not to tip over (unless Charon has an inner ear balance disorder, which is highly unlikely as he doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who even -has- an inner ear.. ;P)

vera nice, and i love the colors that make the somberness.....if that makes sense O.o;; :D looks nice ^.^

~*She has this gaze of unflappable superiority that stems from total detachment and disinterest--not unlike how you're looking at me now.*~

I've joined the °jark :jarksaber: side, have you?
:iconhobbiteh:
Very, very nice. -tilts head- Nahh, I like the angle. Adds atmosphere. And also, I like the fact that you haven't used the usual 'death' colours- grey, black, blue, white etc. I wouldn't have thought of yellow, but it works beautifully.

I'm a big fan of Greek mythology, so.. very very nice.

Imitation is suicide.

*SIGHS* CGed work is so classy and professional. And this is just amazing. Just how I pictured him, too. Well, I hadn't thought of the boat looking like that... but it's really cool! I am in complete envy of your CGing skills. Bah. :)
